The celebration of Agios Kallinikos in Edessa was brillianttranslated

The annual commemoration of Saint Kallinikos, Bishop of Edessa, was celebrated universally and solemnly in the Holy Cathedral of Agia Skepi Edessa. On Thursday, August 7, 2026, at 6:30 in the afternoon, the Solemn High Priestly Vespers was celebrated. Vespers was preceded by the reception of the honor chariot of Agios Kallinikos and a short prayer.

The service was presided over by the Most Reverend Metropolitan of Nafpaktos and Agios Vlasios, Mr. Ierotheos, while the Most Reverend Metropolitan of Edessa, Pelli and Almopia, Mr. Ioel and the Most Reverend Bishop of Almopia, Mr. Stefanos, concelebrated.

In his sermon, the Most Reverend Metropolitan of Nafpaktos Mr. Ierotheos expressed his thanks to the Most Reverend Metropolitan of Edessa Mr. Joel for the invitation and the many years of love in Christ. Referring to his personal experience, he noted that he lived for 15 years near Agios Kallinikos, pointing out that the last seven years of his illness made a special impression on him.
