Chrysostomos of Patron: "Their blood evaporates and reminds us"translated

In an atmosphere of deep emotion, the Heroes and Martyrs of the Asia Minor catastrophe were honored on Sunday, September 13, at the Holy Church of Agia Fotini, in the refugee district of Patras. The Divine Liturgy was performed by the Most Reverend Metropolitan of Patras, Mr. Chrysostomos, as well as the Holy Memorials of the Greek Orthodox Christians of Asia Minor who were horribly tortured and martyred under the Turks.

In the Historical Church of Agia Fotini of Patras, which was built by the Asia Minor Refugees, sacred relics are kept, which were brought from the unforgettable Homelands by the tortured, persecuted and exhausted Greeks, those who remained from the horrible massacres and disasters of Smyrna and the other Greek cities.

In the Church is kept the Holy Icon of the Virgin of Smyrna, which was saved from the burning Church of Agia Fotini Smyrna, by the late Filio Manara, and transported to Patras. Also the Cross of blessing of Agios Chrysostoms of Smyrna, which was carried to Patras by the refugee priest Fr. Konstantinos, vicar of Agia Foteina Smyrna, ordained by the Hieromartyr Agios Chrysostoms of Smyrna, as well as other holy respects, are treasured...
