With new unmanned systems, modern weapons and the participation of military units from foreign countries, the military parade for the 66th anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Cyprus took place today, October 1, 2026 in Nicosia. The Greek government was represented by the Minister of National Defense, Nikos Dendias. The parade was also attended by the Chief of the Armed Forces of the United Kingdom, Air Chief Marshal Sir Richard Knighton, as well as representatives of the Armed Forces of Egypt, France and the United States. Also present were ambassadors, Defense Attachés of foreign countries and other officials, while a large number of people are expected to gather to closely watch the parade.
The parade was held with the participation of motorized and pedestrian units, as well as aircraft of the National Guard, the Cyprus Police, the Fire Service, the Civil Defense, the Forestry Department and the Health Services.
