The Ambassador of Romania to the Italian Republic, Gabriela Dancau, received on Thursday the Order of "Saint Maria Brancoveanu", which was awarded to her by Patriarch Daniel. The Romanian diplomat said she was dedicating "this distinction to the Romanians of Italy, for whom I exercise the office of ambassador". The medal was awarded to her by His Eminence Bishop of Italy Mr. Siluanos, in the context of a ceremony held at the seat of the Diocese of Italy in Rome, in the presence of clerics of the diocese and representatives of the Romanian diplomatic authorities.

The patriarchal order was awarded in recognition of the work he has done in support of the Romanian community in Italy and for his contribution to the achievement of "Intesa", the agreement between the Italian state and the Romanian Orthodox Church regarding the legal recognition of the Romanian Diocese of Italy.
