New Sidirohori Komotini: Worship events for those massacred by the Young Turkstranslated

On the evening of Saturday, September 5, 2026, the Most Reverend Metropolitan of Maroneia and Komotini Mr. Panteleimon officiated at the Solemn Vespers held at the Holy Church of Agios Theodoros of Stratilatos Neos Sidirohori, in memory of our brothers who were massacred by the Young Turks in the village in question. Subsequently, in the presence of residents and local authorities, the litany of the holy icon of the Virgin Mary "Mourtatiani", which was brought to N. Sidirohorion by our ancestors from Eastern Thrace and specifically from the village "Mourtati", during the times of the exchange of populations between Greece and Turkey, took place.

On the following Sunday, September 6, 2026, a Divine Liturgy was held at the Holy Church of Agios Theodoros of Stratilatos and a Memorial Mass was held and wreaths were laid at the Hero of this village for the repose of the souls of our 19 slaughtered brothers.
