Archdiocese of Canada: New Page Opened for the Church and Unity with the Enthronement of Archbishop Apostolostranslated

New Page at the Holy Archdiocese of Canada opened with the enthronement of the new Archbishop Apostolos, which took place in an atmosphere of inspiration and unity in St. Nicholas Cathedral in Toronto, presence of the Greek Minister of Foreign Affairs Mr. George Gerapetritis, Minister of Education, Religious Affairs and Sports Ms. Sophia Zachariou as well as the permanent diplomatic Secretary Ms. Alexandra Papadopoulos. The Ecumenical Patriarchate was represented by Archbishop Thyatira and Great Britain, Metropolitan Nikitas, while on Saturday, September 20, 2026, after the Solemn Blessing of the Holy Cross in St. Nicholas Cathedral, a synod concluded with Metropolitan Apostolos presiding.

The enthronement of the new Archbishop and the new page at the Canadian Archdiocese and Greek ethnicity were also referred to by Minister of Foreign Affairs Mr. George Gerapetritis and Minister of Education, Religious Affairs and Sports Ms. Sophia Zachariou.

The enthronement at St. Nicholas Cathedral in Toronto sounds like it brought a lot of people together. It was good to see both the Greek foreign minister and the education minister there supporting the new Archbishop Apostolos. I hope this really does open a solid new page for the Church and the Greek community up in Canada.
