On the morning of Tuesday, September 17, 2026, on the day of the feast of Saint Sophia and her three daughters, Faith, Hope and Love, the Most Reverend Metropolitan of Thebes, Mr. George, attended a prayer at the Holy Chapel of Saint Sophia, which is located inside the Castle of Livadeia, with the participation of residents of city. In his speech, His Holiness referred to the great faith of Saint Sophia and her three daughters, who, despite the horrible tortures they suffered, remained steadfast in their faith in Christ and did not succumb to the pressure of their tormentors to deny Him. For their confession and martyrdom they deserved to receive the crown of glory.

He particularly referred to Saint Sophia as a mother, emphasizing that she did not have a worldly mind, but faced the martyrdom of her daughters with faith and trust in God. Instead of bowing before the trials, he thanked the Lord, because he was privileged to raise children who remained faithful to Christ until the end and witnessed for their faith.
