The feast of the Dormition of the Most Holy Theotokos was celebrated again this year with splendor and magnificence in the acritic Metropolis of Alexandroupolis. The parishes of Apalos, Aisymi, Monastiraki, Lykofi and Samothraki, in Chora and Kamariotissa, celebrated in memory of the Blessed Virgin Mary. The central celebration took place, as every year, in the Holy Church of Panagia Kosmosoteira Feron. On the eve of the feast, Friday August 14, 2026, the Grand Solemn High Priestly Vespers with Artoklasia was held in the forecourt of the Church, presided over by the Most Reverend Metropolitan of Alexandroupolis, Mr. Anthimos. A large number of faithful, including representatives of the local authorities, as well as officers of the Armed Forces and the Security Forces, participated in the Vespers in order to honor our Virgin Mary.
