Music concert dedicated to the Holy City of Messolonghi in Almyrostranslated

"Magneton Kivotos - for the rescue of the cultural reserve", in collaboration with the Municipality of Almyros, organizes on Monday, July 27, 2026 at 9:30 p.m., in the Central Square of Almyros, a musical concert dedicated to the Holy City of Messolonghi, as part of the anniversary events for the completion of 200 years since the Exodus of Messolonghi (1826–2026). It is a special musical evening, inspired by the heroic Messolonghi, the self-sacrifice of the Free Besiegers and the timeless ideals of freedom and homeland. The concert is a musical tribute to one of the most important events in Greek history, which moved Europe and contributed to the strengthening of philhellenism, highlighting through the songs the spirit of sacrifice, freedom and heroism that marked the subsequent course of the Greek nation. A special place in the program is occupied by songs based on the poetry of Dionysios Solomos and Rigas Velestinlis, illuminating through music the discourse of two emblematic figures of the Greek spirit and national awakening.

The concert in Almyros square on the 27th sounds like a good evening. I like that they’re putting Solomos and Rigas Velestinlis at the centre of the programme; those poems still hit hard after all these years. Will they record it so people outside Magnesia can hear the new Koukoselis song too?
