Archimandrite Christodoulos Karathanasis new Protosygello in the Diocese of Alexandroupolistranslated

His Holiness Archimandrite Fr. Christodoulos Karathanasis takes over as the new Protosygello of the Holy Metropolis of Alexandroupolis, following the decision of the Permanent Holy Synod of the Church of Greece. The decision was taken during the first meeting of the BIS for the new, 170th Synodical Period, which took place on Wednesday 9 and Thursday 10 September 2026, under the chairmanship of the Archbishop of Athens and All Greece, Mr. Ieronymos.
As part of its decisions, the Permanent Holy Synod approved the appointment of Father Christodoulou Karathanasis to the position of Protosignal of the Holy Metropolis of Alexandroupolis.
The new Protosygello has many years of presence and active ministry in the local Church, while his new role is another important stage in his ecclesiastical career and in his ministry in the Holy Metropolis of Alexandroupolis.
The decision of the BIS is part of the work of the first Session of the new Synodical Period, during which issues concerning the administration and operation of the Church of Greece were examined and decided.
