1st General Priestly Synod in Dimitrias Diocesetranslated

The 1st General Priestly Synod of the Holy Diocese of Dimitrias for the new ecclesiastical year was held today at the Thessaly Conference Center, under the presidency of Rev. Metropolitan Dimitriados Mr. Ignatiou. The Synaxis opened with the Consecration performed by His Holiness, who then welcomed the invited speaker, Protopresbyter Evangelos Gana, Vicar of the Holy Church of Saint Meletius Sepolia. Father Evangelos developed the topic "From religion to faith in Christ: stages of a painful transition - Theology vs. religion". Fr. Evangelos, initially, approached the concept of religion from the point of view of Theologians, referring to the persons of Christos Giannaras and Fr. Ioannou Romanidis: "Giannaras considers that the Church has lost the criteria of its self-awareness and has become yet another expression of religion... Romanidis considers that religion is influential over time because it touches the vital needs of human nature...".
