America's Herald of Hope for the election of the new Archbishop of Canada Apostolostranslated

The Most Reverend Archbishop of America Mr. Elpidophoros expressed his warm wishes and heartfelt congratulations to the elected Archbishop of Canada, Mr. Apostolos, immediately after the announcement of his election by the Holy and Holy Synod of the Ecumenical Patriarchate. The Holy and Sacred Synod, during its meeting on Wednesday, July 22, 2026, unanimously elected Mr. Apostolos from New Jersey as the new Archbishop of Canada, in succession to Archbishop Mr. Sotiriou, who submitted his resignation.

In a message published on his social media accounts, the Archbishop of America Mr. Elpidophoros congratulates the new Archbishop of Canada Mr. Apostolos and prays that he will serve his flock "with unwavering devotion, pastoral sensitivity, compassionate wisdom and unwavering loyalty to the Mother Church, the Ecumenical Patriarchate".

At the same time, he expressed the hope that the elected Archbishop of Canada would strengthen the clergy and the faithful, respond "with love and integrity" to the needs of the Greek Orthodox community in Canada and promote the sacred mission of the Church "with humility and determination".
