The Feast of Saint Kallinikos in a Chapel of Kastoriatranslated

On Saturday, August 8, 2026, the holy memory of Saint Kallinikos, Metropolitan of Edessa, was celebrated in the Holy Metropolis of Kastoria. Agios Kallinikos is counted among the local Saints of Kastoria, since according to the biographer of the Saint, the Most Reverend Metropolitan of Nafpaktos Mr. Ierotheos, he served as a soldier in camps and outposts within the Holy Metropolis, while according to the testimonies of old Kastorians, the Saint as a common soldier, attended church and preached against the Divine Liturgy, in the Holy Church of Agios Georgios in the city.

Saint Kallinikos, by decision of the Most Reverend Metropolitan of Kastoria, Mr. Kallinikos, is solemnly celebrated four times a year, namely during the 2nd Lent weekend in the Holy Church of Saint George where the Saint preached, on June 23 (anniversary of canonization) in the Holy Chapel of the Saint inside the Sanctuary Episkopiou, on October 15th (collection of holy relics) where His Holiness celebrates his names and of course on August 8th, his memorial day, in the small churches of Kastoria.
