The new Archbishop of Canada Apostolic arrived in Toronto (PHOTO)translated

Press Release ope.gr Historical Moments Live the Holy Archeparchy of Canada as on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, the new Archbishop Apostolos arrived in Toronto marking the beginning of a new chapter for this Eparchy of the Ecumenical Throne and for the Greek Hellenic Community. At Toronto's airport, Bishop Apostolos was welcomed by the Episcopal Vicar, Metropolitan Theophil. Bishop Athanagoras of Patras, the General Consul of Greece, Mr. Ioannis Chatzantonakis, clergy from the Archeparchy, as well as representatives of the ethnic communities.

Immediately after a warm welcome, the new Archbishop presided over the enthronement liturgy at the Archepiscopal Cathedral where both clergy and laity were also present. Following the Divine Liturgy in the Archepiscopal Guesthouse, His Beatitude was celebrated with the presence of the former Canadian Metropolitan Sotiris and Bishop Theophilus of Patras, Assistant Archbishop of the Canadian Archeparchy.

After the completion of the liturgy, Bishop Apostolos thanked the holy clergy and the people for their warm reception expressing his joy at being now closer to his flock.
