Timothy of Thessalio: Saint Athanasios Hamakiotis remained a tireless worker of the Churchtranslated

In the Holy Metropolitan Chapel of the Holy Twelve Apostles, in the "Red Church" of Karditsis, on Thursday October 22, 2026, the Vespers service of the holy Vigil for the repatriation of the holy relic of Saint Athanasios of Hamakiot was held. The Most Reverend Metropolitan of Thessaly, Mr. Timotheus, officiated at the Vespers service of the Holy Vigil. During its duration, a fragment of the holy relic of Osios was placed for worship and sanctification by the faithful, offering the pious pilgrims the opportunity to honor this modern saint of our Church.

In his speech, His Holiness referred to the great blessing and grace offered by the presence of the holy relic of Saint Athanasios, a saint who lived in an era relatively close to ours, as his repose took place in 1967. As he underlined, the closeness of his era enables us to approach his life and spiritual presence more directly, recognizing in his person a shining example of faith and total dedication to the Lord.
