The Holy and Holy Synod of the Ecumenical Patriarchate elected today, Thursday, July 23, 2026, Archimandrite Kallinikos Mavroleonas as Assistant Bishop of the Holy Diocese of Karpathos and Kasos, under the title of the historic Holy Diocese of Media. Immediately after the announcement of the election by the Holy and Holy Synod of the Ecumenical Patriarchate, the Most Reverend Metropolitan of Hong Kong Mr. Nektarios, in a post on social media, refers to their many years of acquaintance and cooperation, which began in the Camps of the Holy Metropolis of Piraeus.

"We met at the Camps of the Piraeus Metropolis, when I was a high school camper-student and he was a layman-Executive", says His Holiness, adding that later they worked together as Camps executives, as well as in other spiritual ministries of the local Church.
