Two theatrical performances in Messolonghi and Agrinio dedicated to the 200th anniversary of the heroic Exodus of the Free Besiegerstranslated

The Holy Metropolis of Aetolia and Acarnania, as part of the anniversary events for the completion of 200 years since the heroic Exodus of Messolonghi, presents the theatrical performance "The Exodus of Messolonghi", on Saturday 31 October 2026 in the Holy City of Messolonghi and on Sunday 1 November 2026 in Agrinio.

The performance takes place with the participation of the "Lychnos" Youth Association of Thessaloniki and the Holy Monastery of Iisodion of Theotokos Myrtia and is part of the initiatives of the local Church to highlight the historical memory and the timeless importance of the sacrifice of the Free Besieged.

Two hundred years after the shocking events of 1826, the heroic Exodus still moves and inspires. The faith, patriotism, self-sacrifice and determination of the besieged to fight to the end for their freedom constitute a valuable historical and spiritual legacy for the younger generations.

Through the power of theatrical art, the show is an opportunity to once again draw attention to this leading event of the Greek Revolution and to highlight the timeless message of the Exodus, which transcended the boundaries of Greek history...
