Georgios Karpenisiou: We are a people who today have lost their values, ideals, beliefs and are heading towards destructiontranslated

A strong message to the new generation was sent from Evrytania by the Metropolitan of Karpenisi, Mr. George, on the day of the feast of Agios Nikolaos of Karpenisioti, which was solemnly celebrated yesterday, Wednesday, September 23, 2026.  "The center of the world is not our Helladitsa, let's admit that. We are a blessed people, a wise people we would say in the past, but a people today who have lost values, ideals, I believe, and are walking the road that leads them to destruction", he said at a point in his speech.

His Eminence, on the occasion of the feast of Saint Nicholas of Karpenisiotis, made special reference to the New Martyrs of our Church and their strong faith in Christ that led them to martyrdom. "Then a child from Karpenisi, a child from Megalo Chorio, a child from Granitsa and from all other places, from Aspropyrgos in our region, to testify for Christ, was a fact that was discussed for two or three generations, until another new martyr came from the same lands and kept this faith in God and hope unquenchable", he said.
