The nomenclature of Metropolitan Anthimos of Alexandroupolistranslated

On Thursday, September 3, 2026, our Church celebrated again this year the memory of the Holy Hieromartyr Anthimos Bishop of Nicomodeia. In the Holy Metropolis of Alexandroupolis, the memory of the Saint is particularly honored because the Metropolitan Mr. Anthimos bears his name. This year's religious events were attended by high priests from our country and abroad.

On the evening of the eve of the feast, on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, the multi-priestly Vespers was held, presided over by the co-local His Eminence Metropolitan Florinis, Prespa and Eordaia, Mr. Irenaios, while, apart from the celebratory Pastor Mr. Anthimos, the Most Reverend Archbishop of Joppis was honored with their presence Mr. Damascenes, from the Patriarchate of Jerusalem and His Eminences Metropolitans of Didymoteicho, Orestias and Soufli Mr. Damascenes, Demetrias and Almyros Mr. Ignatius, Servia and Kozani Mr. Pavlos, Ilio, Acharnon and Petropolis Mr. Athenagoras, Phthiotides Mr. Symeon, Limnos and Agios Efstratiou, Mr. Ierotheos and the Theophilous Bishop of Tanagra, Mr. Apostolos. Рада за владыку Анфима, столько архиереев приехало к нему на престольный — особенно из Иерусалима и из наших северных краёв. Интересно, как прошёл сам праздник в Александруполисе, наверное, храм был полон. Спаси Господи всех, кто потрудился.

I had read the news and was impressed by how many bishops came, especially the one from Jerusalem, Damaskinos, and the one from Florina, Irenaios. It is good when people travel for such a celebration. I hope the services were quiet and full, as we like in the church.

I am glad that Irenaios from Florina officiated at Vespers, he is a local and knows Anthimos well. I was also impressed that Damascene came from Jerusalem, it's no small trip. I hope they caught some good fish after the service, like the ones we catch here in Heraklion.
