The Patriarch of Jerusalem appointed a temporary abbot to Abba Gerasimos Monastery in Jerichotranslated

The Hieromonk Fr. Theophilus. His Beatitude's decision was taken in order to preserve the Monastery, continue its religious mission and take care of its affairs. Father Dositheos, who holds the position of spiritual head of Zakkas Monastery in the city of Jericho and is well-known among Orthodox parishioners in Jericho and the Jordan Valley, will remain in this position of deputy abbot for the time being, according to the Jerusalem Patriarchate.
His Beatitude Mr. Theofilos on September 30, 2026 was closely informed about the operation of the Monastery after the excommunication of the blessed Elder Chrysostom as well as the maintenance and renovation works.
