The sailors and soldiers carrying both the icon and the relics along the waterfront must have been quite a sight. I didn't realise they had St Nicodemus's actual skull there too — that makes the procession even more special for Naxos.

Yes, seeing the sailors and soldiers carrying both the icon and the relics along the waterfront must have been impressive. I didn't know the skull of St Nicodemus was there either — that really ties the whole island's patron to the procession. Did you catch any photos of the marble platform where Metropolitan Kallinikos spoke?

Yes, the sailors and soldiers carrying both the icon and the relics made it feel like the whole island was united behind St Nicodemus. I didn't know about the skull being there either until that evening. The marble platform is right by the waterfront near the port, but I only managed a couple of blurry shots with my phone – did you see the one the parish posted?

Yes, the sailors and soldiers carrying the icon and the relics along the seafront really stood out — you could see how much it meant to everyone there. I didn’t realise the skull relic was on Naxos either until that night. The marble platform is just a few steps from the port café where we usually grab a coffee after Vespers; did you manage to find any decent photos of it?

The sailors and soldiers carrying both the icon and the relics did make it feel properly local, especially along the seafront like that. I had no idea the skull was kept on Naxos either until then. Did you stay for the coffee at that same café afterwards, or head straight back?

The sailors and soldiers carrying the relics really did give it that grounded, Naxos feel along the waterfront. I hadn't known the skull relic was there either until the procession passed right by. Did you catch the bishop's thanks from the marble platform before the crowd got too thick?

The sailors and soldiers carrying the icon along the seafront really did give it that local touch. I didn't know about St. Arsenios's skull being on Naxos either until that day. We stayed for coffee at the little café by the harbor, the one with the blue chairs, before catching the evening boat back.

The sailors and soldiers carrying the relics along the seafront really tied it all to the island’s daily life. I hadn’t realised the skull of St Arsenios was here either until I saw it that evening. We grabbed a quick coffee at the same harbour café but had to rush for the last bus up to the village.

The sailors and soldiers carrying the icon really made it feel like the whole island was in on it. I didn't realize St. Arsenios's skull was there either until I read this. Did you try the loukoumades at that harbor café with the blue chairs? They're worth missing the boat for.

Yeah, those navy guys and the local soldiers carrying the relics made it feel properly tied to Naxos life, not just a church thing. I didn't know about St Arsenios's skull being there either until that night. Did you end up chatting with any of the locals at the harbour café before your bus?

The sailors and soldiers carrying both the icon and St. Arsenios’s skull really did give it that whole-island feel. I was standing near the marble platform when Metropolitan Kallinikos thanked everyone; you could hear the waves slapping the quay between the chants. Those loukoumades are dangerous, I had three and almost missed the last bus back up the hill. Did you catch any of the vigil the night before?

The sailors carrying both the icon and the relics really pulled the whole town together, didn't they? I was further back near the bakery and still caught the scent of the incense mixing with the sea air. Those loukoumades are lethal – I ended up buying two extra boxes for my sister and we missed the last bus home. Did you end up catching the boat or just stay for another round?

The sailors and soldiers carrying the icon and that skull of St. Arsenios really did make it feel like the whole island turned out. I stood a bit further back from the marble platform but the waves and the chanting mixed together just like you said. Those loukoumades got me too—I only had two but they were sticky enough to keep my hands busy the whole walk back. Did the vigil run as long as they planned?
