The Feast of Saints Joachim and Anne in Nikisiani Pangaiotranslated

On Wednesday, September 9, 2026, the memory of the Holy Godfathers Joachim and Anne was celebrated in the old and historical Holy Church of Nikisiani Pangaeus, which is honored in the name of the Holy Godfathers. On the morning of the holiday, a solemn Divine Liturgy was held, officiated by the Most Reverend Metropolitan of Eleftheroupolis, Mr. Chrysostomos, flanked by Priests and Deacons of the Holy Metropolis, with the participation of believers from Nikisiani and the wider area, who came to commemorate the Holy Fathers. Instead of a divine sermon, the Patriarchal Encyclical of His Holiness the Ecumenical Patriarch was read. Bartholomew on the feast of Indictus and the beginning of the new church year.

Before the Dismissal, His Eminence briefly referred to the feast of the Holy Godfathers Joachim and Anne, the fleshly ancestors of the Lord and parents of the Most Holy Theotokos, underlining their faith, patience and unshakable trust in the will of God. At the same time, he wished the believers present that the embassies of the Holy Fathers accompany and strengthen every Christian family.
