October 21: Saints Barnabas and Hilarion are celebratedtranslated

Today, the Church honors the memory of Saint Hilarion the Great, spiritual child of Anthony the Great, but also spiritual father of Saint Epiphanius, Archbishop of Cyprus. It also honors the memory of the Hieromartyr Socrates elder of Ankara, as well as the memory of Saints Barnabas and Hilarion. The two Osios came from Cappadocia and lived in the 5th century AD. They slept peacefully in their homeland, having previously benefited the people of Asia Minor with their teaching, charity and all their virtuous character, as well as the gifts of healing with which God had endowed them.
Their sept remains miraculously appeared at the mouth of the river Serrachis, in the region of Morphou. They were moved to their present position by some pious believer of the region, who had been informed of the fact, by the Saints themselves, in repeated visions.
