SMYK Vellas in historical Kalpaki – Honor and memory to the heroes of the Epic of 1940translated

On the occasion of the feast of Agia Skepi of the Most Holy Theotokos and the national anniversary of October 28, the School of Discipleship for Clerical Candidates (SMYK) of Vellas was churched in historical Kalpaki, a place inextricably linked to the heroic struggle of the Greek Army during the 1940 Epic. The Holy Liturgy was presided over by the Schoolmaster and Protosygello, Fr. Thomas Andreou, co-officiating with the vicar of the village, Fr. Georgios Dosios, and the deacon Paisios. After the end of the Divine Liturgy, the standard doxology was performed, with the participation of the teachers and students of the Primary School of Kalpaki. The students' dances performed the hymns of the great holiday with reverence and enthusiasm.
The School's presence in Kalpaki, on a day with special religious and national symbolism, took on special significance. In the place where brilliant pages of modern Greek history were written, the memory turns with respect and gratitude to the Greek soldiers, who, with faith in God and love for the country, resisted the forces of fascism with unparalleled courage, defending the freedom and dignity of the Nation.
