Joppis Damaskinos: "The Virgin is the jewel of human nature"translated

The Church of Serres celebrates, after all its splendor, on October 28 of each year, the Synaxis of the most holy Theotokos of "PONOLYTRIA", whose graceful and miraculous, relief icon (11th century AD) is kept in the holy Cathedral and Pilgrimage Church of St. Theodoron Serres. This year, in fact, the liturgical celebration of the Holy Theotokos of "PONOLYTRIA" is celebrated together with all the heavenly, loving patrons of the Church of Serres, old and new, who are connected with Her ministry in time and place, that is, those who labored for the sowing of the Gospel word, were born, lived, martyred or they protectively covered the area of Serres.

On the evening of the holiday, Tuesday, October 27, 2026, the grand solemn Vespers was held in the aforementioned, celebrating Holy Cathedral, presided over by Rev. Archbishop of Joppa, Mr. Damaskinos, from the Greek Orthodox Patriarchate of Jerusalem, concelebrating with the relevant Pastor, Rev. Metropolitan of Serres and Nigritis Mr. Theologu, with the presence of the Vice-Regional Governor of Serres Mr. Panagiotis Spyropoulos, as well as a large number of devout Christians.
