"Light in the Darkness of Occupation": Event Honoring Saint Athanasios Chamakiotis in Maroussitranslated

The Amariou School of Educators "Hellenic Education" presents the local history event "Light in the Darkness of Occupation: The Action of Saint Athanasios Chamakiotis during the Period 1940-1944" on Wednesday, November 4, 2026, at 6:00 PM, in the Municipal Council Hall of the Amariou Municipality, under the auspices of the Amariou Municipality. The event, which was initially presented at the school to commemorate the anniversary of October 28, is being repeated for a wider audience, following a call by the Amariou Municipality.

Through the historical research of the students and the participation of the school's theater group, choir, and orchestra, the actions and spiritual service of Saint Athanasios Chamakiotis are highlighted. He stood by the residents of the area during the difficult years of German Occupation.
