The history of the Holy Monastery The Vatopedino Metochi of Agios Nikolaos in Porto Lagos in Xanthi, is built on two small islands in the lagoon of Porto Lagos. Both have a church. In one is the Church of Agios Nikolaos and in the other the chapel of Panagia Pantanassa, where the miraculous icon is kept, a faithful copy of the one kept in the Holy Monastery of Vatopedi.

The Shareholding of I.M.M. Vatopediou gathers many visitors from every corner of Greece as it is a lighthouse...

I’ve been to the Pantanassa chapel once before — the icon really does seem to glow in that little island church. This year the schedule looks perfect, especially the talk with Elder Ephraim on the 25th. Might try to make the whole thing from Thursday.

I also remember that icon in the small chapel on the island, it seems to shine differently in the dim light. This year the program is beautifully arranged, especially the liturgy on Thursday morning followed by the litany. Maybe I can at least make it to the kerosma after work, to see what it's like for myself.

The program sounds clear and easy to do. I would particularly like to experience the litany with the icon on Thursday after the Divine Liturgy because I know the small island church from a previous visit. Will Gerontas Ephraim's lecture on Friday also be open to guests who aren't there the whole time?

The program looks clear, especially the litany with the icon right after the Divine Liturgy on Thursday. I was there two years ago and the small island church with the Pantanassa icon really impressed me, even though I only came to Kéramos after the liturgy. Is Gerontas Ephraim's lecture on Friday open to all pilgrims or do you have to register in advance?

The program is really clear, and I also find the litany directly after the liturgy practical. I was there at Kéramos last year and I was also impressed by the small island church with the icon - you're almost standing in the water and it's so quiet. Gerontas Ephraim's lecture is open to all pilgrims, I didn't see anyone turned away last time, but maybe you'd better call the Metochi and ask.

Yes, I also remember that dim light in the small chapel, it seems to make the icon seem even more alive. This year the Thursday morning mass really seems appropriate, with the litany after. If you get to the kerosma, tell me how it was, maybe I can also come on Friday evening to Father Ephrem's word.

Yes, that weak light in the small chapel is exactly as you say, it seems to bring out every detail of the face of the Mother of God from the shadows. I hope to make it to mass and the litany on Thursday, but according to Father Efrem it is more difficult on Friday, because I have the evening shift at the supermarket. Have you ever been to such a meeting with him?
