The custom of the traditional dance "Tsiatsiou" in Samarina Grevenontranslated

A large number of people participated again this year in the revival of the famous traditional dance "Tsiatsio", which takes place every year on August 16, immediately after the Feast of the Virgin Mary, in the forecourt of the Church of the Great Virgin Mary in Samarina, Grevena. In this beautiful, historic and picturesque holiday village, built at an altitude of 1,650 meters, the fifteenth of August, the "Easter of the Summer", is celebrated with special splendor and enthusiasm in honor of the Virgin Mary.
The celebrations culminate on August 16, during the big three-day festival, when young and old residents of the area meet in the forecourt of the Assumption Church and participate in the revival of "Tsiatsios".
To the sound of the clarinet, the dancers form a large circle, keeping alive a tradition that connects generations and is an integral part of the cultural and religious life of Samarina.
