August 9, 2026 · 1 min read

On Sunday, August 9, 2026, the Most Reverend Metropolitan of Thira, Amorgos and the Islands Mr. Amfilochios officiated at Orthros and celebrated the Divine Liturgy at the Holy Church of Agios Georgios in Thira. During his sermon, His Holiness referred to the apostolic saying "those who are insulted are blessed, those who are persecuted are tolerated, those who are reviled make supplications", stressing that the Christian is called to face injustice, insult and difficulties not with retribution and malice, but with patience, forgiveness and love, following the example of Christ himself.
