Kydonias Titos celebrated Trisagio in memory of Mikis Theodorakis in Galatas, Chaniatranslated

In an atmosphere of emotion, on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, at the Galata Cemetery in Chania, the annual memorial service was held to mark five years since the death of the great Greek composer Mikis Theodorakis. The Most Reverend Metropolitan of Kydonia and Apokoronou, Mr. Titos, held a Trisagio memorial service on the grave of the late Mikis Theodorakis, praying for the repose of his soul.
The commemorative event was attended by the Deputy Minister of Immigration and Asylum, Mrs. Sevi Voloudakis, the Mayor of Chania, Mr. Panagiotis Simandirakis, representatives of the political and self-governing life of the place, agencies, representatives of cultural organizations, friends of the work of Mikis Theodorakis and a crowd of people.
After the celebration of the Trisagio, flowers were laid on the grave of the great creator, while the Philharmonic Orchestra of the Municipality of Chania performed his well-known compositions, lending a particularly moving character to the ceremony.
The day of remembrance was another opportunity to honor one of the most important personalities of modern Greek culture, Mikis Theodorakis, who chose Galata Chania, the place of his family origins, as the place of his last residence.
