Visit of Nikos Christodoulidis to Mount Athostranslated

On Saturday morning (7/11), the President of the Republic of Cyprus, Nikos Christodoulidis, was on Mount Athos, making a pilgrimage to the Athonian State. The Cypriot President was welcomed in Karyes by the Holy Community and the Political Governor of Mount Athos, with the expected honors for a head of state. Then, he went to the Holy Church of Protato, where he worshiped the historical icon of the Virgin Mary "Axion Esti", the precious theological relic and point of reference for the entire Orthodox world.

Subsequently, Mr. Christodoulidis visited the Holy Monastery of Gregory, where he was warmly welcomed by the Professor, Elder Christophoros, and the brotherhood, in the presence of a large number of pilgrims.

In the afternoon he visited the Holy Great Monastery of Vatopedi, where he received a warm welcome from the Professor, Elder Ephraim, and the brotherhood.

The President of the Republic of Cyprus was accompanied by the Government Representative, Konstantinos Letympiotis, the Ambassador of the Republic of Cyprus in Athens, Stavros Augustidis, the Consul in Thessaloniki, Konstantinos Polykarpou, as well as the Political Commander of Mount Athos, Anastasios Mitsialis.
