The miraculous icon of the Theotokos of Esphagmeni is a 14th century fresco and is located in the narthex of the chapel of Agios Dimitrios, which is integrated into the Catholic Church of I.M.M. Vatopediou. The history of this icon is recorded in a 17th century manuscript, which is written "Pilgrim of Vatopedi" in the chapter "About the holy Icon of Esphagmeni and the extraordinary monstrosity".
