I.M. Kalavryton: Update on the irregular activity of a pseudo-bishop in the region of Aegiontranslated

October 4, 2026 · 1 min read

With its announcement, the Holy Metropolis of Kalavryta and Aegialia informs the faithful that a person is active in the area of Aegion as a "bishop", who is not a cleric of the Metropolis, but neither does he belong to the regular clergy of the Eastern Orthodox Church of Greece. The announcement in detail:

On the occasion of the repeated complaints and questions to our Holy Metropolis, we wish to responsibly inform the faithful people of our local Church that a person who presents himself as a "bishop" has appeared in the area of Aegion.

We categorically state that the person in question is NOT a cleric of the Holy Metropolis of Kalavryta and Aegialia, nor does he belong to the canonical clergy of the Eastern Orthodox Church of Greece.

We draw the attention of the pious Christians of our province, so that they are not seduced by such abnormal and misleading behaviors, which aim to disrupt the unity and peace of the Christ-named crew.

Thank God that the Metropolitan clearly states that this person is not their canonical hierarch. It is better for people in Egypt to go to their own parish church rather than run after him. Such things only muddy the waters.

Thank God that the Metropolis says clearly and loudly that this man is not theirs or canonical. Just like Zoran said, it's better for people in Egi to stay in their parish church than to run after things like this. Peace among the people is only disturbed.

I agree, Snow White. It's really good that they clearly said that it's not canonical, so that people don't bother with questions. Something similar happened here in Podgorica a couple of years ago, so after that people just came to their parish and it was more peaceful for them. What do you think, will this be enough to calm things down in Aegia?
