Satisfaction and reservations: How do the Holy Synod and the local Churches of Serres and Drama interpret the return of the 48 stolen relicstranslated

Report office ope.gr Satisfaction but also reservations characterize the first assessments of the Church for the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministers of Culture of Greece and Bulgaria, Lina Mendonis and Evtim Miloshev, for the mutual "deposit" of relics of historical value for the two countries. The agreement includes the return of 48 relics from the Holy Monastery of Panagia Eikosifonissis, the Holy Monastery of the Holy Forerunner of Serres and the Holy Metropolis of Serres and Nigritis, which had been transferred to Sofia, in 1917, during the First World War and which were exhibited or kept in the National History Museum of Bulgaria. While for its part, our country will hand over to Bulgaria the relics that were found in the Basilica of St. Achillios, in 1965, by Professor Nikolaos Moutsopoulos and that have been identified as belonging to Tsar Samuel of Bulgaria, (997-1014).
