The reason for Greece's decision to hand over to Bulgaria the remains found in the Basilica of Saint Achillios, in 1965, by Professor Nikolaos Moutsopoulos and which have been identified as belonging to Tsar Samuel of Bulgaria, (997-1014), together with the other anthropological material found in a total of four sarcophagi, inside the Basilica.
