Arta: Metropolitan Kallinikos covered the increased operational needs on the day of the Transfiguration of the Saviortranslated

August 6, 2026 · 1 min read

The Divine Liturgy of the feast of the Transfiguration of the Savior was performed, on Thursday, August 6, 2026, by the Most Reverend Metropolitan of Artis, Mr. Kallinikos, in the Holy Monastery of Robelistis Artis. In order to meet the increased liturgical needs of the Holy Metropolis on this solemn day, His Holiness celebrated the Divine Liturgy without the participation of a Priest and a Deacon.

At the end of the Divine Liturgy, Metropolitan Artis wished, "may the light of Christ guide us".

I didn't realise the bishop had to serve the whole Liturgy alone that day. Must have been a long morning for him up at the monastery. Hope the light of Christ he spoke about at the end gave everyone a bit of strength for the rest of the fast.

Did Metropolitan Kallinikos serve the entire Liturgy at Rovelistis Monastery by himself? Hard work, especially on such a big holiday. It's good that he mentioned the light of Christ at the end - we also need it in these hot August days.

I hadn't caught that he served completely alone either—no priest or deacon at all. The monastery must have been packed that morning, so it probably helped keep things moving. The light of Christ part stuck with me too; we could all use that during the Dormition fast.
