October 27: Agios Nestoras celebratestranslated

The Church today honors the memory of the Holy Martyr Nestor, disciple of the great martyr Demetrius, whom we celebrated yesterday, as well as of Saint Proclus, the wife of Pilate. The teenager Nestoras, originally from Thessaloniki, remained faithful to Christ and his teacher's pledges until the end and could not bear to see and hear the pagans, and indeed the giant Lyaeus, insulting the Lord and mocking the Christians.
Thus, he asked for the wish of the imprisoned Demetrius and, invoking the power of God, dueled with Lyaeus and defeated him, as a result of which he was temporarily led to death with a spear, but eternally crowned as a worthy soldier of Christ.
The temptation of atheism, arrogance, power, contempt for the good and moral did not appear only during the time when the young Nestor lived. The temptations that tend to dominate every age appear and attack with fury all Christians, but especially the young, who when armed with the weapons of light endure and resist.
