The Feast of Saint Procopius at the Patriarchate of Jerusalemtranslated

On Tuesday, July 8/21, 2026, the Patriarchate of Jerusalem celebrated the memory of the Holy Great Martyr Procopius in the eponymous chapel, which is integrated into the chapel of Saint Modestos, on the hill of Abu Tor, opposite the hill of Saint Zion. In honor of Agios Prokopios, Vespers was celebrated in the designated chapel in the evening and Divine Liturgy in the morning led by the Archimandrite Fr. Philomenos, psalmonist, the Hierodeacon Fr.

The Liturgists and the Congregation were blessed by the friendly Overseer monk Seraphim.

Regarding the life, state and martyrdom of Agios Prokopios, the church preserves in his memory in the synaxario as follows:

Saint Procopius appeared during the reign of Diocletian in the year 303. Duke of Alexandria and persecutor of Christians, during the night he saw a cross in the form of crystal and heard a voice saying: "I am the crucified Jesus, the son of God".
