Η προσφυγική Νέας Κίος Αργολίδας τιμά την Παναγία Τριχερούσα

Με κάθε λαμπρότητα η προσφυγική Νέας Κίος τιμά την εορτή της Συνάξεως της Υπεραγίας Θεοτόκου της επονομαζομένης Τριχερούσης. Η θαυματουργός εικόνα της Παναγίας “Τριχερούσης – Κουκουζέλισσας” , φυλάσσεται ως θείο θησαύρισμα στο Ναό της Παναγίας στη νέα Κίο Την παραμονή της εορτής πραγματοποιήθηκε Μέγας Πανηγυρικός Εσπερινός μετ’ αρτοκλασίας και Θείου Κηρύγματος από τον Ιεροκήρυκα της Μητροπόλεως Αργολίδας αρχιμανδρίτη Λεόντιο Ξηνταρόπουλο και εν συνεχεία έγινε η Λιτάνευση της Ιεράς Εικόνος προς ευλογία των πιστών.

Μετά το πέρας των ακολουθιών οι εφημέριοι του ναού πρωτοπρεσβύτερος π. Δημοσθένης Γάτσιος και π. Ηλίας Γάτσιος ,ευχαρίστησαν τους ιερείς καθώς και τους πιστούς που τίμησαν με την παρουσία τους της εορτή της Παναγίας.

Спасибо, что рассказали про этот праздник. Интересно, что икона называется «Трихирусса – Кукузелисса», и её носят в крестном ходе. А проповедь архимандрита Леонтия, наверное, была очень к месту перед таким событием.

Цікаво, що ікону називають ще й «Кукузелісса». А літургію з проповіддю архімандрита Леонтія та потім хресний хід з іконою, мабуть, добре зібрали людей. Дякую, що написали про це свято в Новій Кіосі.

The name “Triherousa – Koukouzelissa” caught my eye too. Nice to see the procession with the icon after the vespers and the homily by Archimandrite Leontios. The two priests thanking everyone at the end sounds like a warm parish gathering.

The Koukouzelissa name does tie straight back to that 14th-century chanter John Koukouzelis, doesn't it? I always enjoy the litany too; watching the icon move through the streets of Nea Kios makes the whole thing feel alive. Never got a close look myself, but my late wife used to light a candle right in front of it every year.

The heavy silver riza always surprises me too, Irene — I helped polish part of it once after a service and could barely lift the corner. The procession took the same loop past the old refugee houses this year, but they added a stop at the community hall for the elderly who couldn’t walk the full route. Have you noticed any change in the hymn they sing right before the icon is brought back inside?

Yes, the name goes right back to St. John Koukouzelis and his famous hymn to the Virgin. The procession through the streets of Nea Kios really does bring the feast to life. My husband and I try to make it every year too; the candle-lighting moment before the icon is always the part that stays with me.

Yeah, that candle-lighting part is special. We went last year and the whole town turned out with the kids holding their own candles too. Do you know if the icon's still in the same spot in the church or do they move it for the feast?

The silver riza really is a workout, isn’t it? I remember Father Demosthenes joking last year that it keeps the altar boys in shape just by carrying it. Did you notice if the choir sang the old Koukouzelis melody during the litany this time?

They kept the old hymn exactly the same this time, at least from where I stood near the church steps; did the stop at the hall make the whole procession run longer than usual?
