"Identification of views" at the meeting of the Ecumenical Patriarch with a delegation of the Church of Cretetranslated

A delegation of the Church of Crete was welcomed by the Ecumenical Patriarch Mr. Bartholomeus in Fanari on Thursday, September 24, 2026.

The delegation was attended by the Archbishop of Crete, Mr. Eugenios, President of the Holy Provincial Synod, the Metropolitans of Petra and Herronissos, Mr. Gerasimos and Mr. Prodromos of Rethymno and Avlopotamos, the Regional Governor of Crete, Stavros Arnautakis and the Mayor of Rethymno and President of the Regional Union of Municipalities of Crete, Georgios Marinakis.

During the two-hour meeting, issues related to the Church of Crete were discussed and according to the communique of the Holy Provincial Synod, "an identification of views was found regarding the faithful observance of the divine and Holy Rules and the Charter of the Church of Crete".

Also, "the unity between the Mother Church and the Church of Crete, the sympathy and the devotion of the clergy and people of the Megalonisos" towards the person of the Ecumenical Patriarch, Mr. Bartholomew and the Mother Church.
