Memorial of Saint Sophia and the Three Daughters Martyrs at Kalamos in Atticatranslated

At the Holy Parekklesion of Saint Sophia, part of the Dormition of the Theotokos Monastery of Kalamos in Attica, a Great Panegyric Vigil was completed in honor of the Great Martyr Saint Sophia and her three daughters, Faith, Hope, and Love. Following this service, the Very Reverend Metropolitan of Kifisia, Amarousios, Euripus, and Marathon, Cyril, presided, assisted by priests from the Metropolis and his deacon.

The divine liturgy was served by Archimandrite Eustratios Delatolas, Episcopal Vicar of Pevkis-Metamorphosis.

In his sermon, Archimandrite Eustratios referred to Saint Sophia, the heroic mother who lived during the early Christian centuries in Rome and faced unshaken faith the martyrdom of her three daughters, Faith, Hope, and Love.

Despite the differences between the time of the Holy One and our current era, there is a significant similarity: idolatry. While idol worship was openly practiced then, today it can manifest more subtly when people deify money, matter, flesh, and generally their worldly desires, placing them above Christ.
