At the Holy Monastery of Gonia, the delegates of the 7th World Congress of Cretanstranslated

The Cretans and Krisses of the World Council of Cretans who are participating in the 7th World Congress of Cretans, which these days is being held at the Orthodox Academy of Crete, more than 150 delegates from all over the world, on the final day of the Congress, attended church in the Holy Patriarchal Monastery of Gonia.

The Most Reverend Metropolitan of Kissamos and Selinos, Mr. Amfilochios, who presided over the Divine Liturgy, greeted the dense congregation, noting: "We unite our prayers today, together with all of you, the Cretans and Krisses from all over the world, under the domes of this historic and renowned, Patriarchal Monastery, of Panagia tis Gonia, sending praise to the Holy God and thanksgiving to the Virgin Mary, for the joy of our resurrection. Each and every one of you, the exiled children of Crete, who have radiated throughout the length and breadth of the world, are flesh from the flesh of mother Crete, as you carry in your soul, wherever on earth, an 'other' Crete. You were transplanted but not uprooted, alienated but not forgotten, as Crete is not limited to its geographical limits. Its culture, its history, its customs and traditions...
