Panhellenic Student Competition: "160 years since the Arcadian Voluntary Sacrifice"translated

The Holy Diocese of Rethymnon and Avlopotamos is very pleased to announce the approval and official announcement, for the school year 2026-2027, of the Panhellenic Student Competition for the creation of a poster and a short film, with the theme: "160 years of the Arcadian Voluntary Sacrifice". The Competition is co-organized by the General Secretariat of Religious Affairs of the Ministry of Education, Religions and Sports and the Holy Diocese of Rethymno and Avlopotamos and is addressed to students in the 1st, 2nd and 3rd grades of high schools and high schools throughout Greece.
This initiative is part of the events to complete, in the year 2026, 160 years since the Arcadian Voluntary Sacrifice of November 8 and 9, 1866, and aims to bring the new generation into creative contact with one of the leading events of Cretan and recent Greek history.
Students are invited to create a poster or a short film, drawing inspiration from one of the emblematic personalities associated with the events of Arkadiou: Abbot Gavriel Marinakis, Ioannis Dimakopoulos, Kostis Giamboudakis, Chariklia Daskalakis, Panos Koronaios and...
