Jordan launches airstrikes in Syria after terrorist attack on Greek Orthodox churchtranslated

Jordan's armed forces launched airstrikes in southern Syria on Monday, killing at least six people, with Amman saying they had hit "terrorist" targets, some 24 hours after a deadly attack on a Greek Orthodox church in the Hashemite kingdom was blamed on Islamists. The Jordanian authorities had announced from the beginning that they would react with great severity to this unprecedented attack against the country's Christians, which was committed on Friday, inside a church, where gunmen opened fire during a funeral, killing nine people, before fleeing.
After yesterday morning announcing the arrest of three men it described as the perpetrators of the attack, Amman reported in the evening that airstrikes had been carried out in southern Syria.
These operations "destroyed terrorist positions" and killed or wounded "many members" of organizations linked, according to the Jordanian armed forces, to the perpetrators of the terrorist act.
On the Syrian side, health authorities in Deraa province (southwest) spoke of "six martyrs, among them three children and a woman".
