Belgrade: The Ambassador of Australia to Serbian Patriarch Porphyriostranslated

The Ambassador of Australia to the Republic of Serbia, Peter Truswell, was received yesterday, Wednesday 16 September 2026, at the Patriarchal Residence in Belgrade, by the Patriarch Mr. Porphyry.  His Beatitude warmly welcomed Ambassador Truswell and his entourage, with the Australian diplomat thanking him for the welcome and the opportunity to chat.

The focus of the discussion was the upcoming visit of the Serbian Primate to the Diocese of Australia and New Zealand.

Mr Truswell wished the spiritual leader of the Orthodox Serbs on his move to the Fifth Continent. The Australian Ambassador particularly praised the work and the reputation that His Eminence Metropolitan Mr. Silouanos enjoys among the faithful, as well as in society.

Views were also exchanged on current developments in the world, the situation in the Balkans, as well as the state of Serbian spiritual, historical and cultural heritage, and especially the position of the Serbian people in Kosovo and Metohija.
