The bishop chose a good, straightforward theme for the sermon – faith, prayer and fasting are exactly what most of us need to hear on an ordinary Sunday. Nice to see him visit the little church in Neochoraki; I remember driving through that village a few years back and the people there always seemed warm.

The bishop picked a solid trio there – faith, prayer and fasting. I’ve found that when I actually stick to the fasting bit during the week, the prayer feels less like a chore and more like breathing. Good on him for getting out to Neochoraki; those small village churches are where you meet the real faithful.

Yes, faith, prayer and fasting - that's the foundation. Yesterday I was reading exactly about the fast of St. Simeon Stulpnik and it became clear to me how little I try during the week. It is good that the bishop went to Neohoraki, such small villages are often left out.
