Meeting of the Ecumenical Patriarch with King Charles IIItranslated

A.Th. His Holiness the Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew met today, September 21, 2026, in the morning, with His Majesty King Charles III, at Balmoral Castle in Scotland. This was their second communication after the abdication of the British Monarch to the Throne. The first had taken place in October 2022, while in the past His Holiness and the then Prince of Wales had met in London.

The King exceptionally received the Patriarch in a private meeting at his personal summer residence and their conversation, while it was scheduled to last half an hour, was extended, in a very cordial and friendly atmosphere, by another half hour.

The British Monarch at the departure of A.Th. His Holiness the Patriarch escorted him to the exit of the Castle.

His Holiness was accompanied to this important meeting by the Most Holy Bishop of Ilium, Mr. Raphael and Panosiol, deacons in Scotland. M. Ecclesiarch Aetios, Director of the Special Patriarchal Office.
