Divine Liturgie du Triarcat au Saint Église d'Agia Athéna, Akrotiri de Thératraduit

Avant le révérend métropolite du Pirée M. Seraphim et ses co-ministres les révérends métropolites de Syros M. Dorotheos II et M. Antonio Glyfada, suite à l'autorisation du métropolite concerné de Théra M. Amfilochios, une divine liturgie du triarcat a eu lieu hier matin dans le bâtiment de la famille des Ethnikis et bienfaiteurs sociaux Athanasios et Marina Martinou Saint Église d'Agia Athena, au début de Indictus et la sainte mémoire de la sainte martyre Athéna. Le Saint Service s'est déroulé en présence d'un grand nombre de croyants, venus, comme chaque année, honorer la mémoire d'Ossia et prier pour le repos des âmes de la mère des Bienfaiteurs, Athéna, et de son synonyme, fille d'Athéna.

Le discours divin a été prononcé par Sa Sainteté M. Dorotheos II, qui, après avoir remercié avec gratitude le couple philanthropique et amical Martinos pour leurs offrandes désintéressées à la Nation, à la Société et à l'Église, a évoqué l'unité de l'Église triomphante au ciel et armée sur la terre, soulignant que les saints et endormis, avec les vivants, forment l'Église et prient ensemble pendant la célébration de la Divine Liturgie. et...

The church looks beautiful right there on the cape. Nice to see three bishops serving together for the start of the Indiction and St Athanasia's memory, especially with all the locals turning up like they do every year. The bit about the saints and the departed praying with us at the Liturgy really stuck with me.

The view from Akrotiri really is something with the church perched there like that. I liked how Bishop Dorotheos tied the saints and the departed into the Liturgy too — makes you feel the whole Church is actually there with you at the altar. Have you been to the feast day there before?

The view from up there really is special, especially early in the morning when the light hits the caldera. I’ve been to the feast a couple of times myself; the crowd always spills out onto the terrace afterward for coffee and those little koulouria the ladies bring. Bishop Dorotheos’s point about the saints and the departed praying right alongside us stuck with me too — makes the Liturgy feel less lonely. Have you made it over from England for the feast before?
