Tamisou Panaretos: The Cross becomes consolation and hope in the ordealtranslated

September 13, 2026 · 1 min read

On the Sunday before the Universal Exaltation of the Holy and Life-giving Cross, the Most Holy Bishop of Tamisos, Mr. Panaretos, celebrated the Divine Liturgy in the Ukrainian Community of the Holy Church of Saint Andrew. Father Jeremias Yurchenko officiated after Theophilestatus, while a large number of believers enthusiastically participated in the Holy Eucharist.

During his sermon, His Holiness referred to God's love, which is manifested in the Cross of Christ and becomes a source of comfort and hope amid trials and human pain, emphasizing especially the importance of the Holy Cross in the life of every Christian and the need to remain steadfast in our faith and hope in Christ.

At the end of the Divine Liturgy, His Holiness conveyed to the children and families of the Ukrainian Community the paternal wishes and blessing of His Holiness the Ecumenical Patriarch, Mr. Bartholomew for the new school year, wishing all students good progress, health and every blessing of God.
