The Holy Monastery of Panagia Pelekiti belongs to the Holy Metropolis of Thessaliotides and Fanariofarsalon and celebrates on August 15, the Dormition of the Virgin Mary. The second great feast of the Monastery is on September 8. Since 1939 it has been recognized as a preserved historical monument. It is one of the monasteries that stand out. The landscape, its architecture, its history make the Holy Monastery of Panagia Pelekiti a pilgrimage center.

Interesting place, never heard of this monastery. It's amazing how it hangs over Karitsa, like an eagle's nest, and has been under protection since 1939. Thanks for the video, I'll have to show it to my wife somehow, maybe someday we'll get there together.

Interestingly, since 1939 it has been protected as a monument. And the name “Pelekiti” comes from “carved into the rock,” right? You need to watch the video, how she hangs there over Karitsa, just like a nest. Maybe we’ll go with my husband and son in the summer, since it’s not far from our region.

The name "Pelekiti" really does fit — carved right into the rock like that. Never knew about this one hanging over Karitsa, looks like it could blow away in a strong wind. Might show the video to my wife; we’ve talked about a quiet monastery trip one of these summers.
